2025 Phideaux Award Recipient
It is the club's special privilege and honor to recognize the 2025 Phideaux Award Recipient.
This year's Phideaux recipient has taught and assisted a variety of classes, served on the Board, actively participated on several club committees, and been a chief ring steward for trials, as well as a consistent trial worker.
Our recipient is an excellent observer of what is and is not working in their classes, and has made many thoughtful suggestions that have improved our class instruction. Their proposals and comments, whether in regard to classes, events, or the overall functioning of the club, have been valued because this member is a good listener and is open to others' points of view, even if the idea being presented is not the option that this individual personally prefers. This person frequently offers to help "behind the scenes" by doing things such as organizing trial workers or compiling lists, which has been extremely helpful in making other members' jobs go more smoothly.
This person stands out for their efforts to welcome prospective and new members, getting them involved in club activities such as stewarding at trials, and supporting them as they learn how things work. Our recipient was also involved in organizing a stewarding workshop for multiple sports, and helped out with the summer youth program.
Our recipient is a good sport, even when challenged by the forces of nature. On one occasion, this person was addressing their class outdoors when the stool they were sitting on tipped over backwards. They also found themselves on the ground when trying to hold onto a canopy that was trying to become airborne in a strong wind. Fortunately, this member escaped with nothing damaged except their dignity.
We are KEENly aware of the contributions that our recipient has made to SDTC, and we THORoughly appreciate this member! We anticipate that THIST'LE continue in the future, and look forward to being able to RAID-ER brain for more insightful ideas!
