Classes
Spokane Dog Training Club offers
a variety of classes. They are
8 weeks long and cost $50.00
per dog.

Registration for Session 3
is: June 7th at 7:00 p.m.

Please do not bring your dog
on registration night and come early as classes fill quickly. Shot records are required for all dogs registered in our classes.

Beginning Home Companion:

Open to dogs 6 months of age or older. This class teaches you how to train your dog to walk on a loose leash, lie down, sit, stay in position and come when called. Basic health, grooming, manners and socializing techniques are also covered. This class is beneficial for those who want their dog to be a good companion and for those who want to continue training and eventually compete.

Advanced Home Companion:

Open to dogs that have completed a Beginning Home Companion class. This class graduates using the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Test. Completion of this class is necessary prior to taking agility, flyball, rally or novice classes at SDTC.

Puppy Preschool:

This class is for puppies 12 to 16 weeks of age, as of the first class date.

This class teaches the puppy how to behave around adults, children, and other dogs.

It is an on-leash class covering basic manners, grooming, pet care, socialization, and some pre-obedience training using toys or food.

Puppy Kindergarten:

This class is for puppies 4 to 6 months of age as of the first class date.

This class builds on experience gained in the puppy preschool class, with additional instruction on pet care, basic manners, socialization and beginning on-lead obedience exercises that are suitable for puppies in this age group.

Beginning Competition Novice:

Open to dogs and handlers that have completed an Advanced Home Companion class or for experienced handlers who have trained another dog. This class introduces the basic competition obedience exercises, focusing on getting and keeping the dog's attention. Emphasis is placed on working together as a team.

Advanced Novice:

Open to dogs that have previously completed a Beginning Novice class. The Advanced Novice class continues with the novice exercises, begins the off-lead work and focuses on preparing the dog and handler to compete for the AKC Companion Dog (CD) Obedience Title.

Rally:

The Rally class teaches the exercises necessary to compete in Rally, a new dog sport that includes a pre-set course with signs that the handler follows. Several class levels available as you progress.

Open:

Open to dogs that have completed the Novice Classes and are working off-lead. Dogs learn to retrieve a dumbbell, jump and do a drop on recall. Long sits and downs are done with the handler out of sight. The goal is to prepare for the AKC Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) Obedience Title.

Utility:

Open to dogs that have completed the Open Classes. Dogs learn hand signals, directed retrieving, and scent discrimination. The goal is to prepare for an AKC Utility (UD) Obedience Title.

Agility:

Open to dogs that have completed the Advanced Home Companion Class and are under control while working off-lead. Dogs learn to work through obstacle courses that include tunnels, jumps, A-frame, teeter-totter and bridge. Several class levels available as you progress.

Flyball:

Open to dogs that have completed the Advanced Home Companion Class and are under control while working off-lead. Dogs learn to jump a series of jumps to a box which when activated by the dog, releases a tennis ball. The dog must return with the ball over the same series of jumps.

Flyball League:

Open to dogs that have completed the Flyball Class and are under control while working off-lead. Join a team and compete. Lots of fun for you and your dog
