Agility

Agility is a fast-paced sport in which a handler guides their dog through a numbered sequence of obstacles in the fastest time, and with as few errors as possible. The obstacles: tunnels, jumps, A-frame, and weave poles are arranged in a different order with each event.

The dogs run, jump, and climb with enthusiasm which is a reflection of their joy in working with their human partner!

Agility is truly a team activity, so training emphasizes the handler's communication skills as well as the dogs' ability to perform the obstacles.

An agility team.

Agility can be done simply as a recreation, or done competitively
in local, national, or even international forums.

SDTC holds both AKC (American Kennel Club), and USDAA (United States Dog Agility Association) competitions during the spring
and summer.

Agility is fun for participants and spectators alike. If you are interested, please come and
