Alias: Emily,
Auntie Em Emily Came into my Life when she was 8 weeks old. From then on she has amazed me with how smart she is. One day, while I was having my breakfast, she blurted out "Oh, Mamma". That was amazing in itself, and has become her catch word. I started showing Emily in conformation at 6 months and she immediately started earning points for her Championship. In August 2001 we entered our first National Specialty where she placed Second and Reserve Best Puppy in Sweep. She also placed second in Open Bitches behind a very nice puppy. At 1 1/2 years old, in the very capable hands of E. Cottingham, Emily finished her title placing First in Open Bitches, Best of Winners, and Best of Opposite Sex. She then started her obedience training and in May 2004 she earned her last Novice leg at the American Chesapeake National Specialty in San Marco California. She placed Third with the score of 189. During her obedience training we started doing Pet Therapy visits at Sacred Heart Hospital. Everyone loved her and she loved them. One visit that I stands out in my mind was during a special group visit at Christmas time. We were going from room to room visiting children when we came to a room with an 8 year old girl who had been in a car accident. She was hooked to several IV's and was in a lot of pain. The specialist asked her if she would like a visit from Emily and she motioned "Yes". We carefully put Emily on the bed and she gently inched closer. Through immense pain the little girl began to smile. This brought tears to my eyes and pride to my heart. Emily has also become involved with the Reading Rovers program at the Valley Library and Sheridan Elementary. She is a big hit with the kids and usually has them swarming all around her. She just loves it! Emily gives to others with her soft kind heart. She is my unique and wonderful girl. I love her dearly. -
